Saint Jerome

St. Jerome was born about 340 and died in Bethlehem on September 30th, 420.  The neighborhood in Cuzco where I am living, San Jeronimo is named after this Saint.

At sunset, on June 11th, 2010  the statue of St. Jerome arrives at the church in  San Jeronimo, Cuzco.

St Jerome is, to this day, considered one of the great scholars of the early church.  He is known for his excellent  translation of the Old Testiment from Hebrew to Latin.  St. Jerome is the Patron Saint of translators, librarians, and encyclopedists.  He is refered to as Doctor of the Church.
